Synth History: What are your top three current go-to pieces of gear?
Lionmilk: Top three pieces of gear right now is my Roland SP-404SX Linear Wave Sampler, Fender Rhodes MKII and Tascam Portastudio 424. The SP is always in my rotation because of the effect I use from them. Also love running the Rhodes through it. I use the 404 for live sets, so it’s always with me. The Tascam has been my source of recording new songs.
Synth History: What are three albums you think everyone should listen to at least once in their lifetime?
Lionmilk: I think everyone should listen to D'angelo's Voodoo, Milton Nascimento's Travessia and Wayne Shorter's Speak No Evil. D'Angelo because it'll make you feel right. Milton because its a very beautiful album and his voice is heavenly. Wayne because that album is such a powerhouse of musicians and an instant classic. Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter, Elvin Jones, Freddie Hubbard, what a lineup!
Synth History: What is one tip you have for other artists looking to get signed? And how important do you think having a record label is in the DIY era?
Lionmilk: I think artists need to take care about the music first, then things will align. Do the best with what you have and keep your friends close. If you can keep it DIY then more power to you. If you want some help then see what label works for you.
